Two retired revenue officials among four arrested in land grabbing case

Jammu: Four persons, including two former revenue officials, were arrested for their alleged involvement in an eight-year-old case related to land grabbing here, Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Monday. The arrested accused, including a retired Tehsildar and a retired Girdawar, were among eight persons earlier chargesheeted in the case, which was registered in 2016 following a written complaint lodged by a widow Koushalaya Devi, a resident of Dangray village in R S Pura tehsil, duly endorsed by CJM, Jammu, a spokesperson of the crime branch said. Devi alleged that her husband was allotted land in Suchetgarh but the accused, in connivance with the revenue officials, got the land transferred and mutated in their favour on the basis of forged documents. pti

Crime branch nabs two in informant murder case

Two suspects, Vicky and Yuvraj Chunara, were apprehended in Ahmedabad for the murder of Alpesh Thakor, who allegedly informed police about an illegal liquor operation. They, along with two others, attacked Thakor following his tip-off. Police seized illicit liquor worth over Rs 51,000 from the suspects' residences.

Accused denied bail in digital arrest case

An Ahmedabad court denied bail to Kirankumar Naidu, one of 12 individuals accused in a "digital arrest" scam. Naidu, arrested in Rajasthan, allegedly posed as a CBI officer to extort 4.92 lakh from a Naranpura woman. The prosecution successfully argued against bail, citing the rising frequency of such crimes, Naidu's out-of-state origins, and potential for evidence tampering.

Illegal sale of land: HC stays order directing CBI to register case

The Madras High Court has temporarily halted a CBI investigation into the sale of 31 acres of land originally meant for a women's industrial home in Madurai. The Church of South India Trust Association (CSITA), which sold the land, argues it rightfully owned the property, having purchased it in 1912.
