JAMSHEDPUR: Two teenaged boys drowned into a dam in Gamharia police station limits in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday.

The deceased, Srijan Kumar (17) and Shobhit Singh (17), along with four other friends had gone to the Jilingora dam in the early hours for a bath. While Shobhit got stuck in a swamp and drowned, Srijan died trying to save his friend, Gamharia police station OC Sushma Kumari said.

Six boys had gone to the dam, but at the time of the incident only two were swimming. Divers fished out the bodies and sent them to Seraikela Sadar Hospital. The boys were students of Motilal Nehru Public School. “Shobhit left the house saying there's a cricket match today," Shobhit's uncle, Pawan Singh, told the media.
