JAMSHEDPUR: In two separate raids on Tuesday, Jamshedpur police arrested seven people and seized 66 packets of brown sugar from their possession.
All seven were sent to jail on Wednesday.
In the first case, Mango police arrested three persons, identified as Raja Kumar (28), Aman Kumar (23) and Baldeep Singh alias Pathak (19), from near Subernarekha river in Baikunthnagar.
“The police seized 52 packets of brown sugar and Rs 11,500 from them. The accused are local residents and had the banned narcotics for smuggling,” Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters 1), Virendra Kumar Ram, said.
In another incident, Bagbera police arrested four people — Raj Kumar (26), Varun Kumar Prajapati (26), Amit Singh (28) and Ravi Kumar (30) — and seized 14 packets of brown sugar from their possession.
Deputy superintendent of police (law and order), Animesh Gupta, said that the raid was conducted at Kitadih dosa corner in Bagbera.
