JAMSHEDPUR: Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha (BJM) leader and MLA Saryu Roy on Tuesday said the criminal cases lodged against BJP Dhanbad Lok Sabha nominee, Dulu Mahato, are far more serious in nature than those lodged against former chief minister Hemant Soren.
He asked as to how Dulu was moving freely when Hemant has been sent to jail. The prosecuting agencies and courts of the land should seriously think about the matter and see to it that justice is done.
Further, Roy demanded the Election Commission of India (ECI) to probe the "connivance of Dulu Mahato and fugitive gangster Prince Khan". The ECI should probe the links between the two, he urged.
He also said it is the failure of the Union government that it is yet to deport Khan from outside the country.
The gangster has supposedly taken shelter in Dubai.
Coming down heavily on state BJP chief Babulal Marandi for calling Mahato a good man and social person, the legislator said Marandi's opinion about the Bagmara MLA speaks about his mindset.
Reacting to the BJP state president's statements, Roy said Marandi should know that he (Dulu) is facing 50 criminal cases and convicted in four cases. "If all four cases are added, the total punishment period will be four and half years," Roy said.
