Jamshedpur: Doctors' strike at MGMMCH enters fourth day, OPD services remain suspended
The superintendent has sought assistance from the Dhalbhum SDO to help resolve the doctors’ strike as soon as possible. He highlighted the critical need to resume OPD services, noting that patients from remote areas rely on the hospital for diagnosis and treatment. Since the strike commenced on August 16, around 600 patients have been unable to see doctors due to the OPD's closure.
Sanjay Dubey, a resident of Olidih, had planned to take his elderly father to the ENT ward for a consultation on Saturday but was unable to do so due to the strike. Similarly, Dhruv N Jha, a 54-year-old resident of Kadma, had to postpone his visit to the OPD for a gastric problem.
The superintendent stated that, despite the strike, no patient deaths have occurred, adding emergency cases are being effectively managed, with the strike primarily affecting outpatient consultations.
Doctors strike hits OPDs, patients return
Doctors in Noida and Ghaziabad went on strike on Saturday, protesting the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Approximately 8,000 doctors stopped OPD services, causing inconvenience to patients. Emergency services continued while doctors demanded better safety measures at workplaces. Protesters emphasized the need for a central protection law for medical professionals.

Patient care was disrupted in several medical colleges across the state due to a strike by junior and resident doctors, along with interns, in response to the rape and murder of a Kolkata trainee doctor. AIIMS Bhubaneswar saw a significant drop in patient numbers, and numerous other hospitals reported similar impacts, with emergency services remaining operational.

Emergency services remained operational, but many patients experienced inconvenience.
