No takers for art in Steel City
In the same vein, artist Sangeeta Kishore, whose paintings are primarily inspired by the Buddha, said she has also sold a couple of paintings this year but none of the buyers were from Jamshedpur.
The artists in Steel City said despite the rising number of art exhibitions over the years, art is still a hobby and not a serious career option here. There are about 35 professional artists in the city whose paintings are worth in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 10 lakh.
Folk is the talk at SCZCC art exhibition
Former corporator Parinita Fuke emphasized the need for support from all sections of society to promote handloom, handicraft, folk arts, and folk literature. The Meri Mati Mera Desh exhibition, which includes home decor, furniture, and a food zone, is being held at the South Central Zone Cultural Centre in Nagpur. Keynote speakers expressed gratitude for giving a platform to folk dance, rural art, and artists, and urged Nagpurians to visit and support the exhibition.
Manaveeyam Veedhi gets graffiti art by 13 women artistes
Manaveeyam Veedhi, the cultural hub in the capital, will showcase art by 13 women artists. The project, inaugurated on Wednesday, aims to be completed by November 1. The theme of the artwork is "how did you become the you of now," with a focus on showcasing the best of Kerala. The initiative is seen as a symbol of non-discrimination and aims to provide women artists with a dedicated space. The artists will draw inspiration from nature and use various mediums such as watercolor on paper.
Mohun Bagan survive Jamshedpur's late charge to stay perfect in ISL-10
