Now, weekly test compulsory for classes 9 to 12 in East Singhbhum
Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration has launched a project to improve the learning skills of students of classes 9 to 12 of the government-run secondary and higher secondary schools. As part of the project — Parakh: Education and Play — the schools will conduct weekly evaluation test in all the identified schools every Saturday, and announce the results on Monday. The students will have to get the mark sheet signed by the parents. The outcome of the results will help to identify the subjects in which a particular student needs to work on and accordingly the focus will be given, said deputy development commissioner, Manish Kumar.Kumar has asked the district education officer, Nirmala Barelia, to prepare a team of 50 teachers who will draft the questionnaire for the weekly test. The school principals have been asked to send names of teachers for the purpose. The official further said that the school principals have been asked to promote sports in school. Besides, plantation drive will also be launched to make the school campus green. Sport helps in physical and mental growth of a child, and hence the school administration needs to focus in this area, Kumar said. The deputy development commissioner also urged the school teachers to work on instiling positivity in children. The students have a constructive mind that are open to new ideas and challenges in life, Kumar said. On Wednesday evening, Kumar chaired a meeting of the education officials and school principals after which the project was launched.
