This haat in Kadma area of the city, in which tribal communities from across the country can put up their stalls, is managed by the Tata Steel Foundation. It will not only give a platform to the tribal artists but also highlight their culinary skills.

Every month from 14th to 20th, this haat will remain open to the public.

In the inaugural haat, along with those from Jharkhand, artists from Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh are taking part.

In the evening, workshops on tribal art and culture will also be organised.

Foundation director Chanakya Chaudhury said this market will help the artists from the tribal communities of the country to come to the city to sell their products along with showcasing their skills. “It will also give the participants an entrepreneurial experience and economic boost,” he added.

On the other hand, customers fro the city will not only be able to buy rare items from the artists directly but get to interact with them directly.

Chaudhury said in coming days, if required, the haat will be expanded to accommodate more stalls. At present, there are eight stalls. Tribal foods also drew large crowds during the opening ceremony.
