Jodhpur: To motivate voters to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, cricketer Ravi Bishnoi has been appointed as Jodhpur district election office’s ambassador. A programme was held at the collectorate auditorium on Monday where Bishnoi and district collector Gaurav Agarwal signed a pact for this.Bishnoi is a resident of Jodhpur district. On being chosen as the district election office’s ambassador, he said, “I will also be voting for the first time. During the assembly elections I could not vote due to a match.”District collector Agrawal said that with a talented cricketer of Jodhpur encouraging the youth to vote, the people of Jodhpur would create a record turnout this time. Young voters will be given a cap bearing the signature of Bishnoi during the voter awareness drive, he said.Agrawal and Bishnoi handed over voter ID cards to first-time voters and appealed to them to strengthen democracy by casting their vote as well as encouraging others to do.
