Trains cancelledafter heavy raindamages tracks in Jodhpur dist

Jodhpur/Jaipur: Four trains were cancelled and a few others diverted on Wednesday after heavy rainfall damaged a 40-metre section of the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer railway track close to Tinwari and Mandiyai villages near Osian in Jodhpur district on Wednesday morning. The ground below the tracks got washed away, disrupting rail traffic on the route. While the Sabarmati Express was cancelled in the morning, the Ranikhet Express was stopped at Osian.
Local MLA Bhairaram Siyol reached the spot along with officials to inspect the damage and gave instructions to repair the tracks. “About five kilometres from Tinwari towards Osian, near Mandiyai village at level crossing number C-31, the soil and ballast under the railway track were washed away due to heavy rain. About 100 fish plates of the track were left hanging in the air. We immediately suspended traffic on the track and started repairs,” a railway official said.
Osian MLA Siyol too reached the spot in the morning and ensured that the repair work of the tracks began.
