2 held with counterfeit leather goods

Kanpur: In a breakthrough, the police arrested two men for selling counterfeit leather products in the city late on Tuesday night.During a raid, the Chamanganj police along with a surveillance team caught two youths from two different police station areas with fake leather goods.ACP Sisamau Shikhar said that the arrested miscreants identified as Mohammad Kamran and Mohammad Aqib used to make and supply fake leather belts and purses of branded companies on a large scale in and around the city.“Around 3,500 leather belts and more than 600 leather wallets were recovered from the miscreants. They used to supply fake leather products in the markets using the tag of branded companies,” the police said. Apart from fake leather goods including belt and purse with tags of branded companies, equipments used to tag the goods have been recovered from them. “We have registered a case under the Copyright Act. Further investigations are on,” said official further.
