Kanpur: A couple died by suicide in separate rooms following a dispute over arhar (pigeon pea) threshing on Saturday night.
The incident took place in the Bhagdaura Purwa in Amlikaur village under the Tindwari police station area in Banda district.
The duo’s three-year-old son, and daughter witnessed the entire incident informed the family members, who called in police.
Tindwari police station in-charge, Sandeep Singh, said the duo had a love marriage seven years ago. The man, he said, was frequently addicted to alcohol which caused conflicts at home.
The bodies were sent for autopsy, and further investigation was underway, police said.
