Kanpur: An art exhibition titled ‘The Afterlife of Materials: Stories in Form’ was recently inaugurated at the Approach Cell, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. The exhibition and showcases the work of Shailly Sangal, an emerging ceramic artist from Kanpur, along with four design interns associated with Ranjit Singh Rozi Shiksha Kendra.
Shailly Sangal has been working closely with local potters of Bithoor for the past two years on terracotta craft and has contributed towards building a artisan cluster through her design and process interventions.
The exhibition presents the innovative works of four design interns from Ranjit Singh Rozi Shiksha Kendra, each of whom has worked with a traditional craft cluster facing decline and explored new possibilities through design interventions.
