Kanpur: Divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar on Friday released the logo of Kanpur Boat club was released by the divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar on Friday. The first trial of the club will be held on June 25.
Reviewing preparation of the first trial, the divisional commissioner said the logo symbolises “water sports, river life and nature in totality”.
Talking to mediapersons, said, “The Boat Club was conceived 12 years ago and now it is going to be converted into reality. The site is unique and the club will also prove unique for the city. Various types of boat which are assets of the Boat Club will be tested for the first time in the trial”.
After the trial, two more trials would be conducted before dedicating the club to the public. The Boat Club constructed with a cost of around Rs 13 crore would be the first boat club of UP of national level. The club would be open for all in July.
The trial will begin at 3 pm with ‘Ganga Aarti’ and prayers. As many as two foreign origin boats, six rafts and 15 country-made boats will take part in the march past.
During the logo launch ceremony, DM Kanpur Vishak G Iyer, KDA vice-chairman Arvind Singh, municipal commissioner Shivasharanappa GN municipal commissioner, secretary Boat Club Neera Srivastava and other officials were present.
