Kanpur police lodges FIR against CSA University VC in drowning death case
KANPUR: The Nawabganj police on Wednesday got the postmortem examination of the person done who had drowned in the swimming pool of the CSA University on Tuesday morning. This was done after the arrival of the family of the deceased from Pratapgarh district.
The panel of doctors who conducted the autopsy concluded that the man died due to drowning. The police have registered an FIR against five people in this regard including the university vice chancellor Prof Rajendra Singh, swimming pool coach Virendra Shukla.
Station officer of Nawabganj police station, Akhilesh Jaiswal said that the postmortem examination done has confirmed that the death of Pankaj Pandey was caused due to drowning. He said that Pankaj died due to the negligence of the coach and the life guards and therefore, a case against them under section 304A (causing death by negligence) has been lodged.
The case has been lodged against Puttan Nishad, VK Shukla, Atul Dwivedi, Rajendra Kumar Singh and Umakant Tripathi, the SO informed further.
The family of the deceased who were in tears levelled blame that the swimming pool coach and the instructors were busy amongst themselves while Pankaj was swimming in the pool which caused his death. It was after this the police lodged a case. The police's investigation also confirmed that due to swimming pool's coach and instructor's negligence that Sanjay lost his life.
Pankaj was a beginner and that he had joined the swimming classes here on May 25.
