KANPUR: Enraged over betrayal, a 27-year-old man from Indore who had undergone sex change to marry his male partner, reached his lover's house in Kanpur and set his car on fire.
Police said that they have arrested the accused after going through CCTV footage.
When the cops produced the accused before media persons, he said that he committed the act as he was enraged over his partner's betrayal.
"I met my partner on Instagram in 2021 and we have been in a relationship since then. On his insistence, I underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2022 spending lakhs of rupees," the accused said, alleging that he was also financially and physically exploited by his partner. "Whenever I talked to him about marriage, he would make false promises. When I insisted, he said that he could not marry me as I would not be able to conceive," he alleged.
Police said that he reached Kanpur with one of his friends and went to his male partner's house in Shyam Nagar area of Kanpur and set his car afire.
Additional commissioner of police (law & order) Harish Chandra said, "The accused and his associate have been arrested. The accused has also filed a case in Indore under Section 377 of IPC (voluntarily having carnal intercourse against the order of nature) ."
