Meerut Mavericks outplay Lucknow Falcons by 31 runs in T-20 match

Kanpur: Medium pacer Kartik Tyagi’s first hattrick of the UP T-20 league helped Meerut Mavericks outplay Lucknow Falcons by 31 runs in ongoing UP T-20 league match held here at Green park on Wednesday.Meerut batting first scored 191 runs for 8 and thereafter they restricted Lucknow team on 157 for 9 in 19.5 overs. Though Vishal chaudhary won the man of the match award but Kartik Tyagi stole the show claiming first hattrick of the championship. In the last over of the innings he claimed wickets of Yash Dayal, Kartikeya Jaiswal and Vikrant.In all he bagged 4 wickets.With a moderate beginning Lucknow team lost its wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 85 for 5. Vipraj Nigam and Mohd Aman executed best 67 runs partnership for sixth wicket. Vipraj hit highest 45 runs in 20 balls hammering 6 boundaries and two sixes. Amaan returned unbeaten 28 runs. Lucknow team suffered a setback when captain priyam garg suffered an injury in his wrist and retired hurt. He did not come back for batting again.Three consecutive century maker Swastik Chikara’s fine fourth half century, Aaradhya Yadav’s fine wicket keeping and Vikrant's three wickets in an over were the highlights of Meerut Maverick's innings which had posted 8 for 191 runs. Earlier, Meerut had lost Shoaib Siddiqui on the very first ball of the innings. Yash Sayal bowled Siddiqui on the first ball of his first over. Swastik and Madhav thereafter executed a best 98 runs partnership for the second wicket. At this juncture, wicket-keeper Aaradhya stole the show and stumped Madhav Kaushik (47) off Kritagya Singh and thereafter very cleverly stumped Swastik Chikara who had by that time scored 56 runs and was heading for the fourth century.Swastik in his 39 balls innings hit 6 boundaries and 3 sixes. He had got life in the previous ball when his easy catch was dropped by a fielder. Vipraj Nigam then pushed the Meerut team on back foot claiming three wickets in one over. Vipraj first claimed Swastik's wicket.S. Vikrant in his second over caused grave damage claiming 3 wickets in this over.
