KANPUR: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a 20-year-old local youth in Sadar Kotwali police area of Unnao district on Wednesday.
It has been alleged in the police complaint that the girl, who was missing from her house since Wednesday, was dumped by the mother of the accused outside her house on Thursday morning. The police, on the basis of the complaint, registered an FIR and detained the accused for questioning on Thursday.
The police said that an eight-year-old girl from a locality in Sadar area studies in a nearby primary school. “On Wednesday morning she had left home for school as usual. As per the girl’s mother, her daughter was on her way back home from school, when she was abducted a local youth Nazakat, who took her to his home and raped her,” said the police.
When the girl did not reach home till late evening, a frantic search was made but she remained untraceable, the police said. They added, “At 5 am on Thursday, the mother of the accused Nazakat, dumped the girl outside her house. Later, the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents who reached Kotwali police station on Thursday and gave a complaint to the police.”
Circle officer (City) Ashutosh said that the accused has been taken into custody after registering a case on the basis of a complaint. “Investigations are underway and the survivor is being sent for medical examination,” the CO added.
