Rolls-Royce Phantom, Ferrari, McLaren & I-T raids: Kanpur Lamborghini crash puts tobacco tycoon KK Mishra’s luxury lifestyle back in focus
KANPUR: Sunday afternoon’s Lamborghini crash on Kanpur’s VIP Road has once again brought Shivam Mishra—son of prominent tobacco businessman KK Mishra—into the public eye.
While police are probing the circumstances of the accident that left three people injured, the incident has also revived scrutiny of the Mishra family’s flamboyant lifestyle, marked by ultra-luxury cars, high-profile social events and past Income Tax investigations.
Shivam Mishra is widely known in elite social circles for his passion for exotic automobiles. The family’s collection over the years has included some of the world’s most expensive marques—Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren—often spotted at their residences in Delhi and Kanpur.
Sources familiar with earlier investigations say luxury cars worth over Rs 100 crore were once found parked at properties linked to the family, underscoring the scale of their wealth and indulgence.
Beyond cars, Shivam Mishra has also made headlines for hosting extravagant parties.
His father, KK Mishra, is the owner of Banshidhar Exports Private Limited, a Kanpur-based tobacco firm that supplies raw materials to leading gutkha manufacturers.
About two years ago, the company and its linked premises across multiple states—including Delhi, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh—were raided by Income Tax teams. Officials had then claimed to have uncovered large-scale tax evasion, unaccounted cash, luxury vehicles and suspected benami properties, though the department has not made detailed findings public in official statements.
Investigators had also pointed to alleged discrepancies between the company’s declared turnover and its actual business volume, along with claims of fake transactions and GST evasion. The raids firmly placed the Mishra family under the scanner, turning their opulent lifestyle into a subject of wider public debate.
Now, with the Lamborghini crash adding to Shivam Mishra’s controversial public profile, attention has once again shifted from glossy party photographs and supercar reels to questions around privilege, accountability and conduct on public roads.
Police say the investigation into Sunday’s incident is ongoing, while the Mishra name continues to resonate far beyond Kanpur’s VIP Road—symbolising excess, influence and the recurring spotlight that follows both.
