KANPUR: A woman from Jalaun has alleged that a tantrik raped her on the pretext of healing. The matter came to light when she lodged an FIR at the Kotwali police station on Sunday.
The survivor had been ill for the past few months and on the advice of an acquaintance, she met a tantrik named Ramakant, a resident of Barhal village, who promised to treat and cure her, said police. The woman alleged that Ramakant promised to cure her through some ‘special-powers’ and visited her on Saturday in the absence of her husband. There, he locked her in a room and raped her.
The woman said that upon resisting, Ramakant threatened her with dire consequences.
On Sunday, the woman narrated the ordeal to her husband, who later approached police and got a complaint registered.
Kotwali inspector Samar Singh told TOI, “We have lodged an FIR in the matter. Several teams have been constituted to nab the accused.”
