Woman's fully burnt body recovered in Kannauj

KANPUR: A

fully burnt body

of an unidentified woman aged between 30 and 35 years was recovered from the pit in

Mausampur Maraura

village under the limits of

Sadar Kotwali

police station in

Kannauj

district on Saturday.

The way the woman was murdered suggested that she might have been sexually assaulted before being murdered and set afire.

The police launched an investigation and questioned the man from whose plot the body was recovered.

However, the police have not reach final conclusion as post-mortem examination report is yet to come, according to Sadar Kotwali police station incharge AK

"We are in the process of identifying the deceased with the help of villagers and neighbouring police," said Singh further.
