ABC centre a blessing for abandoned dogs

at Brahmapuram has become a blessing for abandoned dogs. The team at the ABC rescues two dogs from the streets a month on an average.

The rescued dogs will be given medication at the centre and will later be given to those who are ready to adopt them. “We get dogs belonging to renowned breeds like Basset hound, Labrador, German shepherd and Spitz from the streets. People used to throw the dogs in streets when it grows ill or injured. We will rescue the dogs from the streets and provide them proper treatment,” said Sonika Satheesh, veterinary surgeon, ABC centre, Brahmapuram.

Once the treatment is over, the ABC team will try to get somebody for adopting the dog. “We will post the pictures of such dogs on social media. Those interested would come forward and adopt them,” Sonika said. “If the big dogs like Labrador and Basset Hounds are sent back to the streets after treatment, they will scare the public. So, we would explore all the possible means for finding someone to adopt such dogs,” she said.

After the opening of the ABC centre at Brahmapuram, a total of 4,856 street dogs have been sterilised so far. tnn
