Archbishop of Canterbury to visit Kerala

of Canterbury Justin Welby will be in

Kottayam

from August 31 for a three-day visit. The archbishop, who is on his second visit to the country, will leave for Bengaluru on September 2. The archbishop reaches the state as the guest of the central Kerala diocese of the Church of South India (CSI).


The

Anglican communion

is a global family of 85 million people across 165 countries. The archbishop of Canterbury is the leader of the Church of England, the symbolic head of the worldwide Anglican communion. On August 31 evening, he will take part in an ecumenical gathering at the Baker school ground in the town. The heads and leaders of all denominations of the church in Kerala will take part in the meeting.

On September 1, he will lead the holy mass at the CSI Holy Trinity cathedral at 8.30am. By 1pm he will visit the CSI Kavalam parish to interact with villagers, farmers and students.

The next day he will visit CMS College at 9.30am to inaugurate the valedictory of the bicentenary celebrations of the college. He will visit the headquarters of the Mar Thoma Church at 12.30pm and will leave for Bengaluru at 4pm.
