Cusat VC writes letter to kin of student drowned in sea
Kochi: Cusat vice-chancellor Junaid Bushiri has penned a condolence letter to the family of Khalid Mahmood Hashmi, a 20-year-old fifth-semester BTech student at the School of Engineering, who tragically drowned in the sea off Cherai on Thursday."Our thoughts and prayers are with the parents and loved ones of Khalid during this difficult time. His passing left an irreplaceable void in our community," stated the letter by the vice-chancellor. The letter further states that Khalid was an exceptional young man who was devoted to his dreams."He will be deeply missed, but his kindness, compassion, and enthusiasm will continue to inspire the lives he touched. We will cherish the memories of Khalid's time with us and honour his legacy by continuing to strive for excellence," the letter stated. The letter concluded by expressing the university's heartfelt condolences for the loss and extended further assistance, stating that "if there is anything the institution can do to support the loved ones, kindly reach out."Hashmi, of Basvaria, Bihar, was part of an eight-member group that went to the Cherai beach on Thursday evening. However, he along with Aditya Ranjan, 21, of Jharkhand, were swept away by a sudden wave. Ranjan, who was rescued by local people, is still undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kuzhuppilly. Fort Kochi coastal police have initiated a probe into the case.
