IDUKKI: The police on Friday nabbed one suspect in connection with the brutal

murder of a four-member family at Mundanmudy

in the district. Fifteen others are under police lens.

Meanwhile, Idukki SP K B Venugopal ruled out burglary as the motive behind the murder. "The accused had very close links with the family and there is no sign of attack or forced entry into the house," he said.

The bodies of Mundanmudi native Kanat Krishnan (51), wife Susheela(47), daughter Arsha(21) and son Arjun (17) were found buried in the backyard of their house on Wednesday.

Their relatives told the police that more than 30 sovereigns of gold were missing from the house. The slain Krishnan and wife Suheela used to wear chains and rings which were missing. The family also stored gold ornaments in a bottle inside Arsha's room, said the relatives.

"We got over 20 fingerprints from two persons from the area. We hope it will help nab the accused," said

Thodupuzha

DSP K P Jose. "We have questioned many people in connection with the case. But till now, we haven't recorded any arrest," said Jose.

"Krishnan was engaged in sorcery and had high profile visitors who frequented him. He earned a lot of money from performing witchcraft," said the police official.
