NEW DELHI: A Kerala court on Friday granted bail to CPI(M) leader Divya, who was accused of abetting the suicide of former additional district magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu.
Principal district and sessions Judge K T Nissar Ahammed of Thalassery granted bail to Divya.
Divya, who had been in judicial custody, sought regular bail after her initial plea for anticipatory bail was denied by the court on October 29.
On October 14, during a farewell event for Babu, Divya, allegedly attending without an invitation, criticized him for delaying the approval of a petrol pump project in Chengalai for several months.
She noted that he finally granted approval just two days before his transfer, implying she was aware of the reasons behind the last-minute decision.
The day after her remarks, Babu was found deceased at his quarters in Kannur.
