PALAKKAD: Patients of the

Kinfra

Covid First-Line Treatment Centre (

CFLTC

) at Kanjikode experienced suffocation and physical discomforts due to the air pollution from an oil purifying factory at Kanjikode. Following complaints, local body authorities intervened and temporarily shut down the factory.



Locals have repeatedly complained of health problems from the polluted air and water released from the factories nearby. They also complained that once it starts raining, polluted water from factories and

are being released into the Korayar river, polluting the water used for drinking. They have demanded that the government set up waste treatment plants and take pollution control measures to save Korayar water.

Though Kinfra had promised a waste management plant in their industrial parks, no steps have been taken to set up such a plant at Kanjikode, said
