Kochi Metro to increase number of trips

KOCHI: In order to cater to the increasing number of commuters, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has decided to increase the frequency of trains by operating additional trips.

This will reduce the headway of trains from eight minutes to seven minutes and fifteen seconds during peak hours. During non-peak hours, trains will operate every eight minutes instead of eight minutes and thirty seconds. The change in frequency will come into effect from Monday.

“Kochi Metro has seen an increase in ridership over the past several months. The daily average ridership in June was 82,024. KMRL is glad to note that more people are opting Kochi Metro to meet their travel needs,” said a statement.
