Peruvanam Kuttan Marar’s melam treat regales audience

KOCHI: The connoisseurs of Panchari Melam got an opportunity to enjoy the performance of percussion maestro Peruvanam Kuttan Marar held at Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple as part of Makaravilakku celebrations on Sunday.

This was the first Panchari Melam conducted by Kuttan Marar after he was replaced from the leadership of the famous Elanjithara Melam, the signature percussion ensemble of Thrissur Pooram by Paramekkaavu Devaswom. “Change is the only constant in the universe,” Kuttan Marar said, talking about his removal as the head of the famous orchestra.

He said there was some miscommunication with the committee and that led to the unfortunate development.
