'Lover's husband was Bobin's next target'

IDUKKI: Shantanpara resident Isravel helped double-murder accused Bobin without knowing he was the alleged criminal's next target.


Bobin has been planning to eliminate Isravel so that he could live with the latter's 23-year-old wife, police said after interrogating the accused.

The man was arrested from

Madurai

on Thursday for murdering plantation owner Jacob Varghese alias Rajesh (40) and his helper Muthayya (55) at Shantanpara. Their bodies were found on January 13.

Bobin, who has sustained injuries when Varghese tried to defend himself, went to Isravel and his wife

Kapila

, who sheltered him and later helped him receive medical treatment.

The accused handed over Rs 25,000 to the couple after selling

cardamom

he had stolen from the plantation, police said.

The couple were arrested on Wednesday for harbouring the accused.

"The accused said he planned to kill Isravel and then elope with Kapila. Bobin first met Kapila in a hospital at Kulapparachal and they were in a relationship for the past two months,"
