Vinayakan, who won the state film awards for the best actor, received the award for the best actor in a supporting role for his performance in ‘Kammattipadam’. Asha Sarath walked away with the award for the best actress in a supporting role, the film was ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’.

beating Mohanlal’s top-grosser ‘Pulimurugan’ (the first film to cross Rs 100-crore and Rs150-crore mark in Mollywood) and hit films such as ‘Kammattipadam’, ‘Oppam’ and ‘Action Hero Biju’.

Music director Bijibal won the best music award for Maheshinte Prathikaram. “I thank God for everything. Special thanks to a person who inspired me to be a music director. I consider him as my Dronacharya,”said the elated musician.

Mohanlal-starrer ‘Oppam’ bagged two awards, namely best lyrics and best playback male singer for the popular song ‘Chinnamma’. The best playback female singer title was bagged by Chinmayi for the song ‘Oonjalil Aadi’ from the movie ‘Action Hero Biju’.

The Best Film Award in Tamil was received by Guru Somasundaram-starrer ‘Joker’ directed by Raju Murugan. Rajinikanth’ Kabaali had to be satisfied with two awards, best female playback singer and best female actor in a supporting role. They were received by Shweta Mohan and Dhansika respectively.

Indian film actress, producer and director known for her works predominantly in Telugu cinema, Vijaya Nirmala was given the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement award. Her husband superstar Krishna handed over the award to her. “It is a privilege and pleasure for me to present her the award,” Krishna said.

Vijaya Nirmala, who started acting at the age of seven, said she had directed 44 films so far. “I wish to direct another six to make it 50,” she said.
