Mala station house officer found dead

Thrissur: The body of station house officer R Rajesh (46) was found hanging in his quarters near Mala Police station on Thursday morning. Police recovered a suicide note from his room. In the note, the Kollam native wrote that he was committing suicide due to personal issues and nobody should be held responsible for his death, said rural police chief B Krishnakumar. Irinjalakuda deputy SP will investigate the case.

Police sources said Rajesh, who took a two-day leave, was supposed to return on Thursday. But he did not turn up. Also, his wife called the station and said he was not picking up her calls. Policemen then went to his quarters to find him. As the front door was locked, they broke open the backdoor and found him hanging from the fan. Rajesh is survived by his wife and two children.

CPM district secretary K V Abdul Khader demanded an enquiry into the SHO’s ‘mysterious’ death. He said the probe must cover whether the death was a sequel to the stress triggered by internal issues in the police organisation.
