NEW DELHI: Prominent businessman Boby Chemmanur was taken into custody on Wednesday by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing a sexual harassment case filed by Malayalam actress Honey Rose, official sources revealed on Monday.
A Kochi City Police officer confirmed that Chemmanur was detained in Wayanad.
The SIT, led by the circle inspector of Kochi Central Station was formed to investigate the actress’s allegations against Chemmanur, a well-known jeweller.
Following Rose’s complaint, Chemmanur was charged under non-bailable sections. In her complaint, Rose accused Chemmanur of making "repeated sexually suggestive" remarks toward her.
Reacting to the development, Rose described it as a peaceful day for her.
Speaking to a news channel, she mentioned raising the issue with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who assured her of strict action against the accused.
