Man arrested for duping job aspirants

Kochi: Ernakulam Town South police on Monday arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly duping several persons by making fake job offers. The accused used to take Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh from each job aspirant after promising them jobs in the Indian Army, police said.
The arrested person has been identified as Santhosh Kumar of Andoor, Kollam, a resident of Maradu. South police said he has been arrested based on the complaints of a Kannur native and a Malappuram native. Police said they are expected to take the complaints of at least nine more persons whom the accused has cheated in a similar way.
A police team led by Ernakulam Town South CI Faisal M S made the arrest. Officers said he had an office in the South police station limits and hence the case was registered here. “Since 2012, he has over 35 cases against him at 17 different stations for similar crimes including in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. He has been telling job aspirants that they will have to do ‘General Duty’ and take money from them,” said an officer. tnn
