Man arrested for vandalizing hospital

Kochi: A 36-year-old man was arrested for causing ruckus and vandalizing Perumbavoor taluk hospital early on Sunday. The arrested person has been identified as Lawrence of Idukki. The accused had gone to the hospital to seek treatment for a headache. He allegedly then argued with the doctor and vandalised the newly built OP room. He damaged the ventilation glass, light and chairs, police said.513 booked for drunken drivingKochi: As many as 513 persons were booked for drunken driving in a district-wide combing operation held by Ernakulam rural police and the Kochi city police on Saturday night.Rural police said in a statement that they registered a total of 325 cases for various offences. Rural police booked 162 persons for driving rashly and under the influence of alcohol and action was taken against 365 persons for violating other motor vehicle rules. As many as 32 cases were registered for offences connected with drugs, 86 cases for unauthorized sale and consumption of alcohol, three cases for gambling and 40 cases were registered in connection with the sale and possession of illegal tobacco products. City police registered as many as 351 cases against vehicle drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol.According to police, as many as 73 cases were registered for speeding and rash driving, 79 cases for abuse or possession of narcotic substances and 29 cases for drinking in public.

Ludhiana rural police arrests person with countrymade weapon

The Ludhiana rural police arrested a man named Harmandeep Singh from Mansooran village after recovering a pistol and cartridges from him. The arrest was made after police raided the bus stand of Dhapai village. The accused tried to flee but was caught and identified as Harmandeep. A .32 bore country-made pistol was found in his left pocket, while two live cartridges were found in his right pocket. A case under the Arms Act has been registered.

Man from Madurai arrested by Bengaluru police team in historysheeter attack case

A man from Madurai has been arrested by a special team from Bengaluru city police in connection with the recent attack on V K Gurusamy, a historysheeter and close aide of former Union minister M K Alagiri. The accused, identified as S Praveen, is suspected to be part of a gang formed to murder Gurusamy. The attack is believed to be a result of the ongoing political and personal rivalry between Gurusamy and Rajapandi, with whom he has had clashes for nearly two decades.
