Man in custody for killing son-in-law

Thrissur: A 49-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his father-in-law at their house at Kolazhy on Saturday noon. The deceased has been identified as Sreekrishnan of Manalithara Ottayil house near Kolazhy. Police have taken his father-in-law Unnikrishnan into custody.Police said domestic fights had led to the murder. The accused is also the uncle of Sreekrishnan as he had married his ‘murappennu’ (uncle’s daughter). Both the accused and victim had reportedly consumed alcohol. Unnikrishnan had picked up a quarrel with Sreekrishnan’s mother first. When Sreekrishnan interfered, Unnikrishnan picked up a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him. Sreekrishnan’s daughter, a Class X student, who was at home, alerted neighbours. Though Sreekrishnan was taken to a hospital, his life could not be saved. TNN
