with his belongings which included suits, expensive watches, utensils and exercise equipment in 12 boxes that weighed 263kg. He boarded the train on July 17 after placing all boxes in the brake van and reached Thiruvananthapuram on July 18 around 8.30pm.

When he reached the parcel office to collect his boxes, he learnt that only five of them had reached the destination and the rest were missing. He filed a complaint with railway officials. Though there are numerous complaints that passengers are losing their belongings transported in the brake vans in trains, these cases are not reported. A railway official—on condition of anonymity— said that railway protection Force (RPF) does not register cases when parcels go missing. It has been learnt that Thiruvananthapuram railway division had filed a complaint with Southern Railway regarding such incidents.

Meanwhile, George said: “I have an emotional connect with my belongings, which were part of my life in Mumbai. The parcel official assured me that the seven boxes would reach on next train. Now, two weeks have passed and still I haven’t received them.”
