Kerala school teacher held for molesting woman on moving bus

KOCHI: Ernakulam Town South police arrested a school teacher for sexually assaulting a woman on a moving bus. The accused, identified as Kamal, 52, of Ambalamedu, teaches at Kadayirippu Govt School, Ernakulam.

The incident happened on Sunday in a private bus heading from Fort Kochi to Aluva. Following complaints from the female passenger, the bus staff alerted police about the incident. According to police, Kamal flashed at the passenger and attempted to sexually assault her.

Police have registered a case against the accused under Bharatiya Nyay Samshita (BNS) 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and BNS 75 for sexual harassment. Police said the accused will be presented before the court on Monday.
