KOCHI: Senior Congress leader Sooranad Rajasekharan passed away at a private hospital on Friday at the age of 75, party sources confirmed.
A member of the political affairs committee of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Rajasekharan had been battling cancer for some time.
His funeral is scheduled to take place in the evening at his residence in Chathannoor, Kollam district, the sources added.
Rajasekharan held several prominent positions within the Congress party, including serving as KPCC General Secretary and Vice President.
Born on January 18, 1949, he began his political journey as a Kerala Students Union (KSU) activist at DB College, Sasthamcotta, in Kollam district.
