State lost a unique talent: CM

Kochi: Eminent personalities from different walks of life condoled the death of filmmaker Siddique. In his condolence message, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala has lost a unique talent with the demise of Siddique, who excelled in portraying serious life issues in a humorous style. “Siddique was a great screenwriter and director. The moments and dialogues in the movies made by him along with Lal remain in the minds of the people even after decades is an indication of the acceptance of his talent. His films like ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’, ‘In Harihar Nagar’ and ‘Godfather’ entertained different generations. Apart from Malayalam, Siddique was able to contribute to the film industry in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi,” CM said, adding that Siddique’s demise is an irreparable loss to the Malayalam film industry and all Malayalis. Condoling the death of Siddique, cultural minister Saji Cherian said that the films made by Siddique are relevant even today and it proved his talent. “His legacy lives on here with the great films made by him,” said Cherian. Tourism minister P A Mohamed Riyas, BJP state president K Surendran, Muslim League leader Munavarali Shihab Thangal and other political leaders also condoled his death.“You will be missed forever dear Siddique Ikka. I have no words to thank you enough for the love and support you have given my family. Thank you for the beautiful memories. Thank you for being you. You and your smile will always remain in my heart,” said actor Fahad Fasil in his condolence note. “Forty years of friendship. Gone too soon my friend,” said actor Jayaram in his Facebook post. Actors Suresh Gopi, Ashokan, Harisree Ashokan, Shane Nigam, lyricist Rafeeq Ahammed also condoled Siddique’s demise.
