Theatre artist Maradu Joseph passes away

Kochi: Renowned theatre personality, singer and playwright Maradu Joseph passed away in Kochi on Wednesday. He was 93.Joseph, who was born to Xavior and Elisa of Anjuchaikkal house at Maradu, was associated with various theatre groups after he completed his education. After donning a character in the play Vazhithara written by G Sankara Kurup, he adopted the stage name of Maradu Joseph. Later, he became a member of Prathibha Arts Club floated by the late actor and playwright P J Antony.Joseph has portrayed various characters created by veteran theatre artists like N N Pillai, K T Muhammed, N Govindan Kutty, Saithan Joseph, Robert Pavana. He also played an important role in Gopura Nada, the only play written by M T Vasudevan Nair. Joseph has also acted in the movie Manjil Virinja Pookkal.Industries minister P Rajeeve condoled the death of the theatre personality. Rajeeve in his condolence message said that Joseph stood by progressive movements all through his life.The body will be kept at his residence till 10am on Thursday and later at Saint Joseph’s Church at Vadakkekotta in Tripunithura for the public to pay last honours. Funeral will be held at Mary Magdalene Church at Moothedam in Mardu at 3pm on Thursday. TNN

Spreading awareness about suicide prevention at St Joseph Vaz College

St Joseph Vaz College in Cortalim observed World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day by organizing a talk on suicide prevention. The talk, conducted by psychologist Sanya Pereira, focused on the high suicide rates in the state and included a role play activity to highlight ineffective methods of dealing with individuals with suicidal tendencies. The event was organized by the counselling cell and the Red Ribbon Club of the college.

Vishal visited Tirupati after his film 'Mark Antony' released in theatres

Vishal's film 'Mark Antony' was released in theatres on September 15. The movie received positive reviews from fans and Vishal visited the Tirupati temple to seek blessings. He mentioned that the success of the film depends on god's wishes. 'Mark Antony' is a science fiction time travel gangster drama with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The film was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, and made a gross of Rs 6.5 crore on its first day.
