Two held for murder attempt

Kochi: Vadakkekara police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with a murder attempt case. The arrested were identified as Shyam Kumar, 36, alias Chanchu of Moothakkunnam and Utsah, 37, of Nanthiattukunnam. According to the police, Shyam allegedly stabbed a man named Aji, who is the patron of a local SNDP unit, during an annual get-together function of the unit held on Sunday. Shyam stabbed Aji on his abdomen and fled the scene and Utsah allegedly helped him to abscond.The police said the attack was in retaliation for a fight between Shyam and the children of the victim during a music concert held as part of a local temple festival a month ago.The police also recovered the vehicle used by the accused to flee after the crime. A team led by inspector V C Suraj and sub-inspectors M S Sherry and A Razak made the arrest.
