Farmers to soon get power supply during day

Kolhapur: As many as 1.2 lakh agriculture connections in Kolhapur and Sangli districts will soon get power supply during the day time.
The Kolhapur circle of Mahavitaran has invited tenders for the first stage of the programme that aims at setting up solar power plants on 2,148 acres of land around 71 feeders in these two districts.
These plants will generate around 345 megawatt of electricity. Getting electricity during day time will be a big relief to the farmers.
Due to the heavy demand during the day in urban and industrial centres, power is supplied to the farmers mostly during night.
The solar power plants will be installed near the feeders that will generate electricity ranging between 0.5 MW and 25 MW.
Most of the land will be acquired from the local bodies like the gram panchayats.
