Man convicted for killing wife & daughter, sentencing on May 9

Kolhapur: The district and sessions court on Tuesday found a 43-year-old man of Junepargaon village in the Hatkanangle tehsil guilty of murdering his wife and 10-year-old daughter in Nov 2017.The court of Justice S S Tambe declared Ajit Sitaram Shinde guilty on charges of multiple murders and attempting to murder his minor son.According to police, Shinde was under stress after he stopped consuming alcohol. On the morning of Nov 11, 2017, he got angry after his wife, Dipali, did not prepare breakfast and the couple's daughter nagging the wife as she wanted to go out to play.The police said Shinde then struck his wife, daughter and minor son with a wooden rod. Neighbours took all three injured people to CPR Hospital for treatment. Before passing away, his wife gave a statement to the police. The daughter died a week later while under treatment. The doctors managed to save the son, the police said.Public prosecutor Vivek Shukla said 16 witnesses were examined and based on the recorded statements and medical report, the court found Shinde guilty. The court has reserved the judgement for May 9.
