9th India Probiotic Symposium starts off in Kolkata

KOLKATA: The 9th India

symposium organised by the Gut

Microbiota

and Probiotic Science Foundation (India) along with

Amity University

, ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata and the Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (IILDS), Kolkata started off on Saturday with a focus to establish the relevance of intestinal microbiota and the role of probiotics and its benefits during various stages of life like during pregnancy, neonates, infants, children, adults and the elderly.


The topic of discussion at the two day symposium is “Probiotics through the lifespan” where global experts in this field are sharing their experiences on the various research and advances that are taking on the science of intestinal microbiota and benefits of probiotics.

N.K. Ganguly, president of Gut Microbiota and Probiotic Science Foundation (India) and professor of eminence, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi, Professor Yoshifumi Takeda, emeritus member, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan, Professor Abhijit Chowdhury, secretary, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences, Shanta Dutta, director, ICMR-NICED and other experts were present on the inauguration session.
