Bank officer's kin appeal to Mamata Banerjee

Blaming bank, Partha's family demands 'death' for criminals

CHAKDAHA

: Parents of bank officer Partha Chakraborty, whose body was found in pieces last week, have appealed to the chief minister to ensure security of debt recovery agents so that such violence was not repeated. They also sought the death penalty for their son's killers.

Some 200 people from the victim's Gourpara neighbourhood took out a silent candle-light procession from his home till Chakdaha police station and back on Monday evening.

Chakraborty's father Pankaj, 70, said, "I went to see the criminals at the police station. Seeing Shamsuddin, I agreed with the police that he alone could not have murdered my son in such a brutal way. I suspect at least four more persons were involved. While there will be a government prosecutor, they told me I could appoint an advocate if I wished to. I will do that to fight the case to ensure capital punishment for my son's killers."

On Monday, the chopper used to dismember Chakraborty's body was found by cops in a pond in
