Best of Tollywood takes home the Black Lady

Kolkata: Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2025, which was held at JW Marriott on Tuesday, brought together the finest talents, outstanding performances and artistic brilliance under one roof to celebrate the excellence in Bengali cinema. While Nandita Roy-Shiboprasad Mukherjee's ‘Bohurupi' won the ‘Best Film' award, ‘Chaalchitra Ekhon' and ‘Manikbabur Megh' were adjudged the ‘Best Film (Critics')'. Anjan Dutt and Chandan Sen shared the ‘Best Actor (Critics')' award for their respective roles in ‘Chaalchitra Ekhon' and ‘Manikbabur Megh'. Mamata Shankar took home the ‘Best Actress (Critics')' award for her performance in ‘Bijoyar Pore'. Nandita Roy and Shiboprasad Mukherjee won the ‘Best Director' award for ‘Bohurupi'. Shiboprosad Mukherjee was also honoured with the ‘Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male)' award for ‘Bohurupi' and Subhashree Ganguly won the ‘Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female)' award for Babli. ‘Bohurupi' won seven awards, ‘Manikbabur Megh' got six, ‘Padatik' fetched five and ‘Chaalchitra Ekhon' bagged four across categories at the Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2025. Joy Personal Care was the title sponsor of the event, which was co-presented by Lalbaba Rice and co-powered by Manforce and Attica Gold Company. Royal Enfield, Tanishq, The Bhawanipur Design Academy, The House of McDowell's Soda and Nimulid Strong were the associate partners. SVF was the digital partner.Subhankar Mohanta was awarded in the ‘Best Debut Male' category for ‘Mon Potongo' while Baishakhi Roy and Idhika shared the ‘Best Debut Female' honour for their roles in ‘Mon Potongo' and ‘Khadaan', respectively. In the ‘Best Actor In Supporting Actor Role (Female)', Monami Ghosh and Tanika Basu were awarded for their roles in ‘Padatik' and ‘Chaalchitro The Frame Fatale', respectively. Sawon Chakraborty and Silajit Majumder were recognized for their performance in ‘Chaalchitra Ekhon' and ‘Ajogyo', respectively, in the ‘Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male)' category.Biswajit Chatterjee was bestowed with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award' for his exceptional contribution to Bengali cinema. One of the memorable highlights of the night was Subhashree Ganguly's medley performance, in which she was accompanied by her contemporaries — Mimi Chakraborty, Monami Ghosh, Rituparna Sengupta, Koushani Mukherjee and Jaya Ahsan on her popular track ‘Mala Re' from Romeo. Puja Banerjee impressed everyone with her performance on the superhit dance tracks ‘Chadd Gaya Pyaar Ka Bukhaar' and ‘Police Chorer Preme Poreche'. Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Koushani Mukherjee engaged the audience with an amazing performance from their latest film, ‘Killbill Society'. Adding to the evening's glitz, Singini Chowdhury and Cizzy captivated the crowd with their performance on their latest track ‘Ula La'.In attendance were Rajkummar Rao, Rituparna Sengupta, Sunil Agarwal (co-founder & chairman of Joy Personal Care), Parimal Podder (senior channel partner, Lalbaba Rice), Debolina Dutta, Mimi Chakraborty, Jaya Ahsan, Vikram Chatterjee, Shantanu Maheshwari, Barkha Bisht, Subhankar Mohanta, Parambrata Chatterjee and more.
