BSF seizes FICN smuggler with notes of Rs 2 lakh face value

KOLKATA: A Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) smuggler was apprehended by the Border Security Force in Malda on Christmas Day with notes of face value Rs 200,000. Troops of the Malda sector headquarters and 24Bn BSF received a tip-off regarding FICN smuggling in the general area of

"Around 5 pm, the BSF party near Hazil Tula saw a suspect approaching the ferry point from the

end. On being challenged the man attempted to flee but was apprehended. A search revealed a bundle of FICN (Rs 2,000 x 100) hidden in his undergarments. Paper quality and security features of the seized FICN were similar to FICN seized in the past by the BSF South Bengal Frontier," a senior BSF official said.

During questioning, the smuggler revealed his identity as

police station. In 2017, the BSF’s South Bengal Frontier seized FICN of face value Rs 55,88,000 and apprehended nine smugglers.
