Folk performances wow audience at school event

KOLKATA: The Andhra Association High School celebrated its annual function at the Nazrul Mancha on March 16. The programme included an array of events, from plays based on corruption to dance performances choreographed by the teachers. There was also a ceremony to award the meritorious students of the school, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff who had been with the institution for 30 years.


The event started with the school prayer, followed by a dance performance and the lighting of the inaugural lamp. The school management committee president, E Pramod Kumar, and secretary M Sridhar felicitated chief guest Debiprosad Duari, director, research & academics, at MP Birla Institute of Fundamental Research and guest of honour Padma Shri recipient Tarun Majumdar, a veteran director.

The event included a performance on ‘Ganesh Vandana’ by primary students, a garba performance, a Santhal dance and a Telugu tribal dance. The curtains came down on the event with a vote of thanks by the secretary.
