The victim’s fiancé, in his early 20s, was arrested after her parents alleged that she went out with him for pizza on Tuesday before going missing.

Key details:

Disturbing social media post: An hour before her body was found, a post appeared on the girl’s Facebook account, stating: “No one is responsible for my death,” complicating the investigation.

Crime scene: Krishnanagar police superintendent Amarnath K said, “Prima facie, the scene of the crime is not where the body was found.”

Family's allegations: The victim's family believes she was gang-raped, murdered and disfigured with acid. They allege her fiancé and his friends are responsible.

Delayed response from fiancé: The girl’s mother said the fiancé initially ignored their calls and later claimed the girl was sleeping, before becoming abusive.

Previous disputes: The victim’s mother revealed that the couple had issues in the past, but were set to marry soon. The victim, who aspired to be a police officer, had recently reconciled with her fiancé.

Demand for postmortem at AIIMS: The family is requesting an autopsy by AIIMS Kalyani doctors, with a magistrate overseeing the process, and the entire procedure being recorded.

Political intervention: Protests erupted at Kotwali police station and former BJP MP Locket Chatterjee met the victim’s parents.

State Congress President Subhankar Sarkar criticized the investigation, accusing the police of downplaying the case and showing arrogance.

"I think that if the investigation will be held under the supervision of the SP, it won't be impartial. He doesn't listen to anything - he wants to project this as a common incident. His attitude is arrogant which is not good for the people," he said.

The investigation is ongoing, with police looking into whether the fiancé had access to the victim’s social media accounts.
